Wavefront Principle
Why Wfront?
Science has become too centralized
Today, academic institutions hold a near-monopoly on science. Large-scale collaborations have achieved extraordinary things — from discovering the Higgs boson to Gravitational waves. It has also created barriers that exclude citizen scientists. Now is the time to inspire and invite you into the curiosity of Science.
Empowering individuals
Wavefront is for those who want to resist this trend of centralized Science. We promote critical thinking over consensus. We support independent scientists to build tools. Desktop tools that individuals can use to explore reality for themselves.
News
Check out our first Open Source prototype, by Dr. Ali Azadbakht: a low-cost, DIY optical tweezers system using simple optics and a low-power laser. Full build, alignment, and live trapping of micron-scale beads, and release all designs and code as open source!
Goals
-
We challenge scientists with an innovative idea to build a Startup or an Open Source product.
-
The aim is to achieve early Proof of Concept of their technology.
-
We focus on the Physical sciences powered by AI:
Precision Measurements
Space Technology

Desktop Science is a way to do research independently, using accessible, low-cost tools rather than traditional labs or major funding.

Our 1⁴ approach
Our challenge:
One year. One prototype. One cubic meter — a true desktop device.
We offer:
-
1 year scientific fellowship, minimal bureaucracy
-
Scientists get the IP of their work.
-
Wfront becomes founding investor of your startup.
-
Startup business plan and fundraising.
Laboratories
-
Our advanced laboratories are at the new CometLab, located in Noordwijk next to ESA ESTEC
-
Perfect environment for conducting complex experiments
-
Close collaboration opportunities with the Space sector community.

Let's start making waves!
In Physics, Christiaan Huygens' Wavefront Principle states that every point in a wavefront is itself a source of new waves, and the interaction of these fluctuations form a new Wavefront.
We believe the same happens with people.
No standard protocols. Only groundbreaking ideas. Plan your call now.
